| Description | Berchem was a very popular Dutch painter of Italianate landscapes. He was extremely prolific but had many followers and works are often misattributed to him. Enthusiasm for his hazy, idealised, Italianate interpretations of Dutch landscape began to wane in the nineteenth century with the influence of artists such as John Constable. |
