| Description | This signed picture by Paris Bordone can be regarded as one the first of the paintings depicting an almost informal gathering of saints in an open landscape. The Virgin is no longer in the centre, but attended by two elderly male saints, one of whom is turned to a donor approaching the scene from the left. Nevertheless, many details show the influence of Titian, in whose workshop Paris Bordone had learned the art of painting, and of the art of Giorgione. |
