| Description | A drawing in pen and bistre in the Uffizi, traditionally attributed to Nicola van der Heck, is very close to this painting. An engraving by Sadeler, prints of which are in the National Gallery in Prague, and also Amsterdam and Budapest are almost identical, but in reverse, have two extra figures, and an additional flying cherub. A painting, in reverse, probably from the engraving is in a private collection in Ravensburg. The present attribution is supported by Dr. Eliska Fucikova, on the ground of its similarity to the engraving by Sadeler after Hans von Aachen of the Holy Family. |
