| Notes |
Gerrit Dou's original Violin Player (Princely Collections, Vaduz Castle, Liechtenstein) is illustrated in Baer, R. Gerrit Dou 1613-1675: Master Painter in the Age of Rembrandt, cat. no. 20, p. 104. It is interesting that the artist has added grape vines to the exterior of the window, which can also be seen in a further copy by G. Thorne, sold at Sotheby's. |
