Description This work is believed to date from the eighteenth or nineteenth century, and is in the style of the seventeenth-century Dutch painter Cornelis Droochsloot, whose stereotypical village scenes have been widely copied. This work is similar to many Droochsloot compositions, though perhaps utilises a broader perspective than some, with its receding village street, and figures dotted in artfully arranged groups throughout the composition.
