Notes On its bequest to the National Art Collections Fund in 1938, this work was attributed to Van Dyck. Before it was gifted to Newport, it was shown to the Rijksmuseum and reattributed as Willeboirts. This attribution has remained. There is a version of this work at Hatfield House, attributed to Jacob Huysmans after Van Dyck; and another version, almost identical in size, attributed to the circle of Willeboirts, which sold at Philllips in December 1988.
